Brent Sweeting

Brent has been a part of OPP since 2023, and has taught/co-facilitated in both Coffee Creek and Oregon State Penitentiary. He has also been a part of the curriculum evaluation team and has contributed to the updating of materials for new volunteers. 

Brent first came across NVC tangentially through his children's school teachers as well as a communication coach that was doing culture shaping work at one of his past jobs. He finally got into the book during the Covid lockdowns, and in addition to his work with OPP he has been through all three levels of NVC training through Rose City NVC.

In addition to his work in NVC, Brent is a certified mediator and restorative justice dialogue facilitator, and he recently completed an M.S. in conflict resolution with a focus on the importance of internal peacework for external peacemakers. 

He has also been clean and sober since 1993 and remains very active in the alcoholism recovery community where a lot of his own personal transformation work originally started and continues.
