Dana Horner - Facilitator

For the last 10 years, Dana has volunteered with the Oregon Prison Project, helping facilitate Nonviolent Communication workshops in prisons. She started after recognizing patterns of conflict in her own family and wanting to build healthier ways of relating for herself and the people she loves. She has seen how these tools help people connect even in the toughest environments, reducing conflict and building real understanding among participants. For Dana, it’s been deeply meaningful to watch these skills transform tense situations into moments of genuine human connection.

Dana also brings more than 25 years of experience as an X‑ray technician and medical assistant, where she supported patients through procedures requiring precision, calm presence, and genuine care. Her clinical work taught her how to be present with people in vulnerable moments and to listen without judgment—skills she’s right at home applying in OPP’s Nonviolent Communication circles.

Dana also enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, floating rivers in summer, and spending time with her husband, family, and their two goofy Labradors.
